  • Perform SHER impact assessments for the sections and provide resources to execute the action plans or correct deficiencies.
  • Conduct safety and general laboratory facility inductions for new employees and visitors at the processing laboratory.
  • Ensure the shift/daily production, performance, quality, and cost targets are met according to the business objective.
  • Coordinate work activities, workflow, and resource allocations for the processing laboratory to ensure results are reported on time and if full.
  • Supervise all laboratory activities and ensure that all approved activities, tasks, procedures, methods are completed according to plan.
  • ArGIS for groundwater, reservoirs/dams modeling.
  • Responsible for ensuring that shift handover is managed properly between the oncoming and outgoing shift.
  • Manage all sample receiving activities on shift and ensure that the samples are completed and reported according to set operating procedures and quality standards.
  • Review and validate laboratory results and ensure the quality standards are met before results reporting.
  • Ensure + 90 % instruments and equipment availability by ensuring all equipment and instrument logbooks are up to date, filled in correctly and that maintenance requirements and breakdown are reported immediately and that corrective and preventive measures are put in place timorously.
  • Ensure +95% availability of laboratory workflow by among other ensuring regular stocktaking is conducted, reagents, consumables, spares and other are re -ordered before safety stock is being used, laboratory operators are well trained and can conduct the required assays within the target turnaround time accurately and consistently.
  • Manage all lockout activities on shift and ensure that equipment is locked out according to the lockout and isolation procedures and ensure all energy sources are isolated before work can commence.
  • Audit all completed lockout activities and address deviations with all concerned .

  • Conduct laboratory facility, equipment and instrument (such as; XRF, ICP-OES, Gallery for water quality and many more )clean-up and maintenance according to set procedures and schedules.
  • Report all safety, health, environmental and radiation non-conformance to the Laboratory Shift Chemist.
  • Comply with all safety, health, environmental and radiation procedures in area of responsibility.
  • Attend and contribute to daily safety talks and monthly meeting with the rest of the team.

  • Sample receipt, sample preparation, analysis of plant solutions, slurry, solids etc.
  • Compliance and understanding of ISO 17025.
  • Follow all equipment and instrument checks, standard operating procedures, methods of analyses and reagent make -up methods for the laboratory.
  • Perform screening and other tests for quality control.
  • Enter all sample data into the LIMS system.
